The heart is pounding, sweat is pouring. I look at my heart rate on the watch – 180 beats per minute (BPM) and rising, I need to slow down… But it feels like I’m running slowly already…
What can you do. I slow down and almost stop. The rhythm decreases, decreases. It reaches 160…150… 145… Well, let’s run again. But as soon as I start, the watch buzzes again. It exceeds the set limit of 168.
I slowly run back home and wonder “What was that?”
Usually, I run much faster and the rhythm doesn’t rise like that. Then I remember – it hasn’t even been an hour since I drank a lot of coffee. Probably because of that.
Lived with these thoughts all day. When should I drink it? And when is it better to avoid it? How much coffee is too much?
After my run, the conclusion was clear – I won’t drink coffee before running anymore. And this may not be a rule for everyone, because different bodies react differently, there are studies that show that drinking coffee before exercise can even improve the body’s physical parameters and enhance the workout.
But mine likes to pump on its own. It seems it doesn’t need additional caffeine help.
As old uncles and aunts like to joke – “You can do anything, but some things only once.”
No, coffee is not in the same category as fly agarics, poisonous berries, or drugs, which if tried you might not get a second attempt, but the logic is probably this – if you can, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s useful.
After all, many people know well that coffee contains caffeine, which has the property of waking us up. Although its effect is different. One fact – it’s better to drink coffee in the morning.
My own experience is this – as a teenager, I could drink coffee in the evening and sleep without any problems. (I should mention that sometimes I went to sleep very late… Or early. Depending on how you look at it).
Now, if I drink coffee after 3 or 4 in the afternoon, I’ll most likely have problems.
And if you evaluate not when you drink coffee, but how much you drink. Again subjective. There are people for whom one cup of coffee is too much, and there are those who don’t function before the third cup of morning coffee.
Many doctors and scientists recommend not exceeding 3 cups a day. More precisely, up to 400 milligrams of caffeine is considered a harmless amount.
I like coffee, both as a drink and the entire culture and history associated with it, so I don’t want to stop drinking coffee. BUT, I need to pay attention to its effect on my body.
I also want to exercise, so the conclusion is quite clear – drink coffee in the morning after working out. These are the rules I set for myself. What are your rules for drinking coffee?
